Senior IAS officer Subodh Agarwal from the Rajasthan cadre has been appointed as the Chairman of the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Institute, Jaipur. According to a recent transfer order by the Rajasthan government, IAS Subodh Agarwal has been entrusted with this new responsibility. Until now, Agarwal was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary for the Public Health Engineering & Groundwater Department and the Water Resources Department, including the State Water Resources Planning Department in Rajasthan.

Originally from Uttar Pradesh,IAS Subodh Agarwal has held several key positions in the Rajasthan cadre, gaining extensive experience. Currently, Subodh Agarwal IAS is the Director General of the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sansthan, and throughout his career, he has held many key administrative positions at both state and central levels.

Dr. Agarwal’s wife, Rolee Agarwal, is an IRS officer and the Commissioner of Income Tax. They have two children: Shubh Agarwal, who also serves as an IRS officer in the customs department, and Shagun Agarwal, who recently received the 2024 National Advertising Award.

Even after 78 years of independence, India still deals with issues that hinder our rapidly growing economy. In a country where the goddess Annapurna symbolizes nourishment and sustenance, it seems only natural to take inspiration from her spirit to address these nutritional gaps.

To tackle these issues, the Rajasthan government launched a groundbreaking initiative in 2015 to modernize and strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) called the Annapurna Bhandar Yojna. Today, we’re speaking with IAS Subodh Agarwal, who, as the Principal Secretary (Food and Civil Supplies) with the Rajasthan Government, was responsible for implementing this project. He shared that this unique initiative would not only improve the public distribution system but also modernize retail across the region.
